Prairie View A&M University

Prairie View A&M University is a historically black university located in Prairie View, Texas. Founded in 1876 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race, it is the second oldest public university in the state of Texas. It is part of the Texas A&M University System and is well known for its prestigious and highly regarded engineering and business programs. Notable alumni include civil rights activist Barbara Jordan, inventor Lonnie Johnson, and former NASA astronaut Robert Curbeam. The school supports a diverse array of student organizations and also offers a range of NCAA Division II athletics, including football, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and golf. Prairie View A&M University is a proud member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, which supports historically black colleges and universities.
