South Dakota State University

South Dakota State University (SDSU) is a public research university located in Brookings, South Dakota. Established in 1881, it is the largest and oldest continuously-operating university in the state and the second-largest university in the Dakota Territory. SDSU offers over 200 undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degree programs, including health sciences, engineering, nursing, business, education, agriculture and sciences. With a student body of over 13,500, SDSU supports a nationally-recognized freshman retention rate of 86 percent and a four-year graduation rate of 51 percent. Designated as a Carnegie Research University with high research activity, SDSU provides outstanding opportunities for research, and serves as the home for two of the state’s Centers of Excellence. SDSU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and ranks in the top 6 percent of all public universities in the country.
