Virginia State University is a historically Black public university located in Ettrick, Virginia. It is part of the Virginia Community College System. Founded in 1882 and opened in 1883 as the nation’s first state-supported agriculture and mechanics school, the University celebrates its legacy as a leader in higher education, research and outreach service.
