Texas Southern University

Texas Southern University (TSU) is a public, historically black university located in Houston, Texas. It was founded in 1927 as Houston College for Negroes and is one of the oldest and largest historically black universities in the United States. TSU offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates, ranging from the liberal arts to sciences and engineering. TSU is also home to the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. The university has given rise to many prominent graduates; current notable alumni include actresses Phylicia Rashad, Phyllis Hyman, and Viola Davis.
