Lamar University is an accredited public university in Beaumont, Texas. The university, founded in 1923, was formerly known as South Park Junior College and Lamar College. Its mission is to provide higher education opportunities for the region’s citizens. The university has over 11,000 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in areas spanning science, engineering, business, education, humanities, and health sciences. It also offers a number of online courses and certificate programs to accommodate working professionals. Lamar is the only university in the region to offer a full range of degree programs in Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Petroleum Engineering. With small class sizes and more than 160 degree programs, Lamar is committed to providing a quality education through rigorous instruction and research-based teaching practices.
