The Citadel

The Citadel is a private military college located in Charleston, South Carolina. Founded in 1842, the college offers outstanding leadership and military training in addition to traditional academic programs. It is well known for its rigorous academic standards and its outstanding Corps of Cadets. The Citadel is the only Military College of South Carolina and a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. The university’s diverse student body is made up of full-time undergraduates, part-time and graduate students. The Citadel is focused on developing leaders in all fields of study, and its mission is to graduate principled leaders who are prepared to serve and succeed in a very changing world.
