South Carolina State University

South Carolina State University (SCSU) is a historically black public land-grant research university located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Founded in 1896, SCSU is the only public university in South Carolina accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. The university offers over 45 degree programs from the undergraduate level to the graduate and doctoral levels across five colleges and schools. SCSU has a total enrollment of 3,322 students and about 272 full-time faculty members, making it one of the top mid-sized universities in the country. SCSU is well known for its rich history in the educational and cultural life of African Americans and has been labeled as a “critical asset” to many students seeking higher education.
