Duquesne University

Duquesne University is a private Catholic research university located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Established in October 1878 by members of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritans), Duquesne is the only Spiritan university in the United States and the only Catholic university in Pennsylvania. The university offers pre-professional programs in business, law and pharmacy, among many others, as well as numerous graduate masters and doctoral degree programs. Notable alumni include philanthropist and entrepreneur Bill Strickland, filmmaker George Romero, NFL broadcaster Bryant Gumbel and actress Marlee Matlin. Duquesne’s distinguished faculty includes Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson and the late Nobel Peace Prize recipient Betty Williams. Duquesne has been the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, including being named a ‘Best-in-class university’ by The Princeton Review, and among the top Tier 1 universities by U.S. News & World Report.
