Wilberforce University

Wilberforce University is a historically black college located in Wilberforce, Ohio. Founded in 1856 by the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Wilberforce University is the first and oldest private Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the United States. It is also the third oldest college or university in Ohio. Wilberforce offers a supportive academic environment and promotes a lively campus life. With an emphasis on traditional values, the university seeks to create informed and engaged citizens who can take an active role in our society. The university offers a number of degree programs, including arts and sciences, business, education, and divinity. The university is also home to numerous academic and research institutions, such as the Wilberforce Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity.
