Florida A&M University (FAMU) is a public, historically black university (HBCU) located in Tallahassee, Florida. Founded in 1887 and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the university has twelve colleges, in addition to an Honors College which focuses on undergraduate research and creative activity. With a student body of over 15,000, FAMU offers over 150 degree programs, ranging from arts, sciences, engineering and business to education, nursing and law.
