Alabama A&M University

Alabama A&M University is a public, historically black research university located in Normal, Alabama. Founded in 1875 as the State Normal School, it is the second oldest public historically black college in Alabama and is certified to award baccalaureate, master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees. It is a member of The Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the only public university in The Tennessee Valley region to participate in the program. The University offers 54 degree programs with 54 minors and 4 pre-professional programs in Liberal Arts, Science and Technology, Business, Education, Agriculture and Human Sciences. Alabama A&M is unique in its combination of technology, urban, suburban and rural communities. With a population of almost 7,000 students, A&M is large enough to offer numerous areas of study, yet small enough to provide a nurturing environment for personal growth.
