West Virginia University is a public land-grant research university located in Morgantown, West Virginia. Founded in 1867, the university is an NLF and A for-profit institution. It is sometimes referred to as WVU, colloquially as “West Virginia” and previously known as West Virginia Agricultural College and West Virginia University of Agriculture and Applied Science. WVU offers over 200 majors, minors and certificates. It is the largest university in the state with an enrollment of over 30,000 students. It is home to the West Virginia Mountaineers football team and the West Virginia Mountainees basketball team.
