The University of the South, commonly known as Sewanee, is a prestigious liberal arts college located in Monteagle, Tennessee. Established in 1857, it is the oldest Episcopal-affiliated college in the United States. The University provides a comprehensive liberal arts and sciences education for over 1,700 undergraduate students, offering more than 40 majors in areas such as biology, business, visual arts and sciences, English, planetary sciences and history. Sewanee is also known for fostering a strong sense of community, where relationships between faculty and students, as well as students from different class years, are valued. Moreover, the University prides itself on its international student population, which represents more than 30 countries. In addition, Sewanee is home to the School of Theology, a seminary of the Episcopal Church, and the magnificent Sewanee Mountain.
