The University of South Dakota is the oldest university in the Dakotas and the state’s flagship university. Located in the vibrant city of Vermillion, the university offers students a unique combination of big school opportunities and small school atmosphere. The university is home to some of the top programs in the Midwest, from business and engineering to criminal justice and agriculture. All students benefit from a wide range of internships and research opportunities, a supportive community, and a scholarship program that has recently helped about 95 percent of freshmen and 60 percent of all undergraduate students. In addition, student athletes can participate in 12 men’s and 11 women’s NCAA sports, making USD a hidden gem among college sports fans. With so much to offer, it’s no wonder that 94 percent of student respondents agreed that USD is a good place to obtain a quality education in the 2021 National Survey of Student Engagement.
