Humboldt State University is a public university located in Arcata, California and it is part of the California State University system. It was founded in 1913 as a normal school specialized in the training of teachers, and in the mid-1960s it transitioned to become a liberal arts college. Today it is a small yet vibrant university offering associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in a multitude of disciplines ranging from arts and sciences to forestry and wildlife management. Its beautiful campus is located in one of the most scenic areas of California and is home to a diverse student population of around 8,000 people. With a small student-faculty ratio, students benefit from personalized instruction and individualized attention. Most programs combine classroom instruction with hands-on fieldwork and a strong emphasis on experiential learning.
